National Unity Platform (NUP) spokes person and member of parliament Joel Ssenyonyi is spending his independence day behind bars.
He was arrested at NUP’s head offices in Kamwokya after the security told him not to enter the premises but he did.
Today NUP had organised prayers for their supporters that died and those that were arrested in 2021.
Unfortunately police is not allowing them to do that although they are trying to forcefully do that.
“After raiding our headquarters to prevent us from addressing the country on Uganda’s 61st ‘independence’ day, police and the military have proceeded to arrest party leaders and supporters. The Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, Spokesperson Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi and scores of other comrades are now detained at Kira Road and other Police Stations around the city. We owe it to ourselves to resist this impunity!,” Bobi Wine posted
It should be noted that last week Bobi Wine had an encounter with police but no harm was caused.
