It seems like musicians in Uganda have started taking matters into their own hands in a bid to grow the industry.
A few days ago, musician Sadat Mukiibi popularly known as Kalifah AgaNaga took to the DJ booth to ask a DJ to step off the decks.
This is after this DJ played a lot of Nigerian music. Kalifah asked him to politely step aside and let him take over.
The Bad Character Music CEO applauded this DJ for being good but it wasn’t his night.
Furthermore, the Oyitangayo singer told this DJ that he was spoiling their (musicians) business by not giving them airplay.
For a long time, musicians in Uganda have decried how media stations and DJ’s in Uganda don’t give their music ample airplay and this has contributed to the stunted growth of the industry.
On the other hand, these music stakeholders have also always asked these musicians to release quality music.
